Green Belt

Trails Skied: 50, Glide Wax: universal, Grip Wax: green

Didn't think there'd be enough snow for skiing at Mer Bleue, but just enough at P23 at the end of Dolman Ridge Road. Checked out P20 at Anderson Road first, but hikers had pounded the snow down to the dirt so no go there. Trail 50 was walked on as well, but not as much and was able to use the snowy trail shoulder for the most part to cut tracks. Did 4 passes from P23 to Anderson road and back. A bit of branch debris here and there and icey patches, but once the track was formed the going was reasonably fast. Green wax for grip worked perfectly..

Kichi Sibi Winter Trail

The National Capital Greenbelt has over 100km of trails and another 25km of recreational pathways, most of which are suitable for cross-country skiing in the wintertime. All of the trails are suitable for beginner and family outings. Some are now maintained by volunteer groomers; OWWT, BWT, SHE, Kichi Sibi.

ONSC grooms The Hornet's Nest (Tauvette street to Montreal Rd), Mer Bleue and Pine Grove Forest (the section off Leitrum Rd). Trails are classic skiing ONLY, no skating is allowed on these trails. The Hornet's Nest is groomed at least weekly and the others as time permits. Updated trail conditions are available at the snow phone; 613-837-SNOW.
