Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #2 (from #40 to #1), #40, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: silver extra klister

I hadn\'t planned on going out until I read the reports from yesterday. Etienne\'s words inspired me to head to P12. The skiing was unfortunately very poor, with 40 in such bad shape that I turned back to trail 2 after a few hundred metres of skiing, portaging and detouring on collapsing snow. The ascent of 2 was relatively easy, with just one big snow gap, but at the top a lot of portaging was necessary with all the snow melt. I met a couple of skiers at the trail 1 intersection; one had primarily walked all the way up 2 from P12; the other had come from Camp Fortune and had had a reasonable ski. Returning down 2, I encountered several skiers and hikers. I crashed after losing control half way down, skied down to 40 then walked most of the rest of the way, warning a couple of skiers to avoid 40 at all cost. I can\'t complain about the workout or the weather, but it wasn\'t the ideal way to end a great season.
