Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Fortune Pkwy, Champlain Pkwy, #1, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: FishScales

This ski was expected to end with a sad lament for a beautiful season now ended. I fully expected to carry my skis over many predictable bare spots. The only problem here was that there were no bare spots!! I arrived around 3:30, having spent the morning away, and was shocked to see about 15 cars in the P10 parking lot.
SO much snow still! No bare spots whatsoever on the Fortune Parkway, and not even a sign that they will be bare soon. Ridge Road, heading toward Penguin, was delightful, and the snow was, for the most part, quite a bit cleaner than on the parkway. The stone wall at Gossip Corner is just barely visible through a large bank of snow. the The Champlain Parkway had one small bare spot at Etienne Brule, which was where I turned around, but as far as the eye could see the snow extended toward the Champlain Lookout.
A detour to Shilly Shally - surely there would be an open spot there! But again, just snow. I finished about 5:30 and there were still people heading up. 8 cars were in the parking lot.
It was a beautiful ski, at a beautiful hour.
What a fabulous ski season it has been. I guess the skis stay out for a while longer!
