Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Fortune Pkwy, #1, #2 (blue), Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: silver extra klister (4 days old)

After reading yesterday's reports I decided to head up early to enjoy hard track and to try to avoid the forecast rain. I left the almost empty P10 at 07:25. Air temp was +1C. Classic tracks were variable in condition, but the recent grooming allowed decent progress considering we're in springtime conditions. There was a fair bit of debris intermittently, some dark patches were starting to show at a few locations on the FLP and trail 1 had an exposed rock on the classic track about mid-way between Huron and the CP/1b junction. Descent to Western Shelter was tricky and I had to dismount at the trail 9 junction and walk down the last 50m.

Skate skiers were out in significant numbers by 10:00. The tracks were starting to soften just about that time. P10 was full on my return and P8 was also quite full. There's still lots of snow on the trails so this weekend should afford nice spring skiing.
