Trails Skied: 1, 2, 2, 6, 8, 9, 12a, 12b, 12, Glide Wax: Swix CH8 (but it doesn't matter today), Grip Wax: I'd seriously think about waxless

Get out before the rain! A quick tour around the campground trails - last night's fresh snow is wet and SLOW. No grooming (as per the note on the KN website), but the skate lane is getting packed by skiers and the classic track, while also skier set, is ok.

Glide just doesn't happen at these temps without some ski tuning. So if you feel slow, it isn't you! Grip looked like a challenge to wax for (that's why there are sooo many waxes for these temperatures - none of them work really well, so you waste all kinds of time trying something that might work 10% of the time). If you have a waxless ski, you'll be fine (and have more fun)

Of course all of this will change with a little bit of rain and then colder temps.

To the deer that taunted me all the way around the trail 8 loop - I only wish I was as graceful as you!

Kanata Nordic

Kanata Nordic ski club is a volunteer-run club dedicated to promoting lifelong activity, fitness and enjoyment of the outdoors through a variety of cross-country ski programs and activities offered in a friendly club setting. Established in 1979, Kanata Nordic now calls Wesley Clover Parks home with a growing trail-network for all skiers to enjoy. The club is a member of Cross Country Ontario (CCO) and Cross Country Canada (CCC).

The club grooms and maintains approx. 18km of trails at 401 Corkstown Road.

Trails are groomed 5 times per week by volunteer groomers. Tracksetting occurs after each significant snowfall and just prior to Saturday lessons (usually January through March). Trail conditions will vary depending on snowfall and snow conditions. Access to the club trails requires a membership or day-pass.
