Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Fortune Pkwy, #1B, #1 (green) (#2 - #24), #3, #1 (blue), Glide Wax: LF6, Grip Wax:

When I checked the Park Web site this morning, it said that only #1 from west of #24 to the fire tower had been groomed (how did the groomer get there?), so I wondered what it would be like to skate there. By noon, the Web site said that the Fortune Parkway and #1 from Champlain lookout to #24 had also been groomed, amongst a few others, so off I went.

Despite the grooming, the Fortune Parkway was still quite firm, and things did not soften up until the #1 past Champlain lookout. With the cold and the new snow from Tuesday, glide was not as good as last weekend, but the groomed part of #1 was quite enjoyable. #1B and Burma had not been groomed, so were very hard packed and not as pleasant. Nonetheless, it was a nice day to be out and P10 was about 75% full. However, like most, I'm looking forward to the end of the deep freeze!
