Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Champlain Pkwy, Champlain Pkwy, MacKenzie-King Rd , Glide Wax: CH7, Grip Wax:

Jo-Ann and I skated from P6 to the Champlain Lookout this morning. Skate conditions were just about perfect, with fresh grooming of the sugary granular surface overnight. Glide was great, but the skis edged easily. The sun was intense, but the snow still wasn't melting appreciably. As usual the Empty Quarter- the CP from Mica to the FLP junction- was relatively quiet. It's a great place to go to avoid the weekend crowds. There were still a few parking spots available in P6 at 10AM, and many more when we returned. It also looked as though a new overflow lot has been opened at P6. It's a fabulous afternoon for skiing in the park, particularly for skating.
