Kanata Nordic

Trails Skied: 1, 2, 2, 6, 12a, 12b, 12, 101 North, 102, 103, 104, 106, TCT, Glide Wax: Swix CH5, Grip Wax: Swix VR40

Skied classic over the lunch hour. Note that the KN trail condition website indicates that some classic tracks (in the upper campground trails) were not reset due to equipment failure.

5/5 snowflakes for skate everywhere, 5/5 for classic on the lower trails

That being said, the skate lane is looking really good in the campground. Popped over the tracks to the lower trails where the classic track is solid everywhere (except trail 107, which has had a couple of passes with the snow machine only.

The deer are out looking for fresh branches - along the rollercoster (106), there are a couple of spots where the deer are bedding down beside the trail - I had two deer watching me ski by.

A note on kick wax - I found that a little softer wax than air temperature alone would suggest was working well today (air temp was around -11, which would suggest a green wax). The snow's been worked over a few times and is a few days old (transformed), so one wax softer (i.e. blue) is the ticket.

Kanata Nordic

Kanata Nordic ski club is a volunteer-run club dedicated to promoting lifelong activity, fitness and enjoyment of the outdoors through a variety of cross-country ski programs and activities offered in a friendly club setting. Established in 1979, Kanata Nordic now calls Wesley Clover Parks home with a growing trail-network for all skiers to enjoy. The club is a member of Cross Country Ontario (CCO) and Cross Country Canada (CCC).

The club grooms and maintains approx. 18km of trails at 401 Corkstown Road.

Trails are groomed 5 times per week by volunteer groomers. Tracksetting occurs after each significant snowfall and just prior to Saturday lessons (usually January through March). Trail conditions will vary depending on snowfall and snow conditions. Access to the club trails requires a membership or day-pass.
