Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #5 (green), #27, #29 (alternative), #29 (shared), Glide Wax: universal, Grip Wax: Terva Tar Kick Wax

Excellent to good classic grooming on the Asticou/Mont Bleu area trails. Tracks were mostly deep and well formed with a good firm snow base and some coarse and ice covered spots, mostly in the usual spots on #29. The frozen skate grooves caused me some difficulty on the descents, no loose snow for control. Wiped out on the 180 degree switchback on #5. Surprisingly the extreme cold wasn't much of a factor due to the brilliant sun and little to no wind. Even so I was the only classic skier the whole time I skied. Tried a new extreme cold wax, Terva Tar Kick wax which gave excellent grip and glide. Its brown in colour and even smells like the old tar we used to put on our wood skis back in the day. Much better than the polar stuff I normally when its this cold.
