Kanata Nordic

Trails Skied: 101 North, 103, 104, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax:

Ski conditions were interesting this afternoon as temperatures had dropped significantly and there were very strong winds. The trails for both skating and classic were still in good condition and the drifts were not deep. I headed for the practice loop to get out of the wind. The sun was warm and the wind was limited. There was just enough fresh snow to soften the track. I really enjoyed skating in fresh snow and racing around the circle a number of times (in both directions). Conditions were ideal to check out the tracks I left in the snow. Did I land on a flat ski, and then edge sharply with a strong kick? How far did I glide?

Next I ventured out of this quiet glen into the fierce wind to try a loop with some hills, and then headed for the forest trails to get out of the wind again.

Really enjoying having groomed trails in Kanata, and even today there were a number of fellow skiers enjoying the trails as well.
