Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Gatineau Pkwy , Gatineau Pkwy, Champlain Pkwy, Glide Wax: CH7, Grip Wax:

It's another near-perfect day for skiing the upper parkways. I skated from P8 to Mulvihill and back. About 3cm of fresh silky powder had covered the overnight grooming, allowing perfect control and reasonable glide(racers would have complained it was a bit slow). Glide was good enough to allow 1-skate up most of the hills. Descents in the tracks were leisurely. Some of the classic skiers I saw seemed to be having grip wax problems, with temperatures approaching the freezing point around noon. I did not lack company- P8 was nearly full when I finished my ski, but I saw lots of empty spaces in P5 as I skied past. Jo-Ann reports the connector to P6 is in good shape. A bit of sunshine and fresh snow coating the trees made for Christmas card perfect scenery. Get out this afternoon if you can!
