Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Fortune Pkwy, #1 (blue), Glide Wax: , Grip Wax:

Maybe because I missed the first 3 weeks of the season and then did one pole only until late January due to surgery, and drove 50 minutes to get to P10, I made a go of it despite no grooming. Skied from P10 to Champlain, cut across to 1 at Huron, and then to fire Tower. The saviour was decent classic tracks (ice and granular) and the ability to double pole to past the worst ruts. Where skating was necessary it was possible to pick "fair" areas over poor. Beyond 2 skate trail progressively improved. Beyond wolf trail lookout frozen granular corduroy with some ruts. Beyond Mckinstry crust skiing that was not to bad. Ruts on steeper downhills could be dangerous in places. All told, I enjoyed the ski but would not recommend it if you are looking for nice spring time trails or do not like the idea of catching an edge and landing on hard abrasive trails.j
