Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Champlain Pkwy, #1, #30, #31, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax:

Tried to get out for a bit of a ski in the sunshine over the lunch hour. Sadly the sun was in and out so I was only half successful. Skied out Ridge to the Brule lookout. then back down the parkway to Gossip and back to the car. Conditions were pretty sloppy in the noon day sun with temperatures in the +8C range. Still it was a nice outing. Fairly quiet on the trails although there were a few people. The shrewd skiers had gotten their ski in first thing in the morning no doubt.

Only came across one or two open patches on Ridge... and of course the parkway is open at the lookouts. On the parkway itself I found a few grey slushy areas that were still skiable but mostly there was good depth, It was probably pretty nice earlier in the morning. The parkway had been groomed from P10 up to the lookouts and along ridge just to Keoogan and Shilly Shally. It was a little faster on the fresh grooming. The rest of ridge road is being kept nicely packed down by walkers and runners of whom I met a few. Transition season!

Drove over to P8 where I saw big patches of asphalt on either side of the Meech lake road and then dirty or grey snow heading off in either direction. It will be interesting to see how much snow we get on the weekend. The estimates seem to drop with every day we get closer to the storm... but any little bit should freshen things up for a few more days. Don't pack the skis away just yet!
