Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #1, #6, #34, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax:

Thank goodness for this website. There was no snow in Ottawa yesterday and I didn't go up, but I looked at the pictures here. New snow! This morning I drove up to Chelsea - no snow. It was only on reaching P5 that the snow appeared. The Parkway was groomed and fast. Penguin climb was ungroomed. Trail 34 was gorgeous: lots of snow and fresh animal tracks. Trail 6 was corroded with foot traffic and was dangerous on descents. I would avoid it.

Curiously, the best skiing now (and maybe tomorrow) would be crust skiing across the ponds. The new snow is light and adequate for grip without the ruts or footprints from other users.
