Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Gatineau Pkwy , #13, #1 (black - Chelsea), Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: waxless

Left P5 just after 8am, temperature was -2 with a light snow falling. Scenery was wonderful with all the new snow in the trees, but the skiing was a tough slog. The snow on the GP from P5 to P8 was slow and sticky but there was at least some glide possible on my waxless back country skis. I decided to try #13 and #1 Black back to the GP and that was a mistake. Although there was evidence of recent grooming, there was a lot of wet, clumping snow on top of it that required frequent ski cleaning. Conditions only worsened as the temperature got warmer. Ending up hiking over to the GP from #1 in an effort to find some glide, but it was a very slow climb. We need some cooler temperatures.
