Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: Fortune Pkwy, #1, #1B, #2 (blue), #9, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: silver klister

Despite the grey weather, it was an excellent trip. The conditions varied between excellent (FLP, 1B and 2 until 200m from Western Shelter) and good/fair: Trails 1 and 9. Definitely not recommended to descend 9, but the climb up was easy, apart from negotiating the rocks near the top heading up to 1. The klister worked perfectly for both grip and glide. Although the classic tracks were firm and often glazed, all downhill setions were fast but speed control was easy. There was the usual debris on Trail 1 between Gossip Corner and Shilly Shally and the usual ice patches and a bit of rock exposure on 1 west of Huron Shelter. There was evidence of recent back country skiing on 9 at FLP as well as on 11 near Huron. However, it's probably best to stick to the groomed trails under existing snow conditions.
