Mooney's Bay Ski Area

Trails Skied: Stadium, Skate Loop, Glide Wax: CH8 - Red, Grip Wax:

Here is my first report.

In general, the base seemed pretty thin and a good deal of ice was present. The surface for skate skiing in both the stadium and skate loop was uneven, and perhaps due to lack of snow coverage, and variant weather, grooming seemed to have been lacking.

The stadium seemed to offer slightly better conditions than the skate loop. Outside of the stadium, the best areas for skate skiing, seemed to be those surface areas that are not normally groomed, as they were harder and smoother.

The temperature was very pleasant and the glide was decent but could have been a little better had I used CH7 Violet, instead of CH8 Red.

None of the classic tracks seems to have been formed very well in either the stadium or the classic loop.

Hopefully with more snow, and colder weather, the conditions will improve.
