Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #7, #15 (blue), #15 (black), Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: Vaughti Green

These trails, unlike the nearby parkway, were fabulous today! They provided shelter from the cold, and were firm but not yet icy. The hills were in perfect shape with occasionally just small patches of ice on some of the descents. There is a lovely low spot on 15, between the Gatineau Parkway and Mine Road, where all the downhills meet, and once the noise of my skis stopped I realized there were 3 woodpeckers within 50 feet of the trail, two pileated and a hairy. It was lovely to hear their percussion ensemble.

If you go, I would suggest a really strong base binder, as the ice content of the snow will do in any regular waxing in short order.
