Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #1, #1B, #2 (blue), #2 (from #40 to #1), #3, #20, #21, Glide Wax: , Grip Wax: blue vr40 with blue extra v40 kicker

Left P12 at 10:05. Quite a few other skiers were heading up 40 at that time. Air temp was around -12C. The grip wax worked very well. The climb up 2 to 21 was easy on the fresh snow; descent on the return also easily controlled. Back country trails 21 and 20 had not been travelled before our small group went on them but breaking trail was not much effort. When we arrived at trail 3 (Burma), there was a fairly large snowdrift to negotiate at the end of 20. After a snack at Huron Shelter the wind was howling and it was the first time we felt the cold as trail 1 was a bit exposed. Once on 1B and back on 2 there was no noticeable wind chill. It was a great trip, but I recommend not under-dressing for the conditions, so use a warm toque and several layers of clothing or it might be a bit chilly.
