Feb 7 (2017-02-07) by Craig Storey from South: Stadium
Trails Skied: Jackrabbit, Ice Storm Loop, Sunrise Loop, Jackrabbit Loop, Stadium, Lower Lit loop, Chute Charron, Dirk's Dive, Johannsenhus to Owl cabin Loop, Perri's Way, Beep Beep [0km], Glide Wax: Blue, Grip Wax: Carrot
Had to take advantage of the perfect conditions before the storm hits. Being a bit later than Elisabeth we got fresh grooming as they prepare for the afternoons high school races. Conditions were fabulous for skating or classic whether the trail was groomed or ungroomed.

All the primary lower trails were groomed by 9am. I went up #4 which was ungroomed, but the groomer was busy on Powerline, and on the way down I saw it was up #1 past Sunrise having done Jackrabbit, Charron's and Dirk's dive.

We should easily weather the rain, warmth and ice to come but the groomers will be busy to get it all skiable again. Much appreciated!

About Skiing at Nakkertok..

Nakkertok has a network of about 75km of skating, classical and backcountry trails at two locations just north of Ottawa in the Gatineau Hills.

General Info: Driving Directions | Trail Maps | Trail Conditions | Grooming Activity Report.

Nakkertok South is the main attraction offering groomed skating and classic skiing, chalets, races and children's programming. There are lit trails for night skiing. Club membership, or a day-use fee required for skiing.

Nakkertok North trails are quite demanding, and only occasionally groomed (Fridays). They offer a refreshing backcountry wilderness experience for those with good skiing skills. The trails at Nakkertok North are almost always quiet. The annual Nakkerloppet event in February is a great opportunity to discover these trails by making the North to South crossing.
