Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: #50, #55 (green - shared), Glide Wax: KUU pink, Grip Wax:

A short ski from P19 along 50 and 55 green to Renaud Cabin and back, introducing some friends to the north end of the park. Conditions were radically different from those reported higher on the ridge. We started with soft snow just above the freezing point with fresh grooming providing good glide for skating. Classic tracks were firm and deep. Mohair skis provided good grip for classic. On our return we found the snow starting to become a bit wet, with noticeable suction, but skating was still enjoyable. The snow is starting to look dirty from days of thawing conditions. There were surprisingly few people out, which is too bad considering that ski conditions were very good.
