Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: North Loop, Glide Wax: violet, Grip Wax:

Just some easy skating on the North Loop, Doldrums, whatever you want to call it. It was all thoroughly groomed, and skating seemed a more logical choice today after yesterday's 12 degree rain showers. The tracks and trail were really hard, evidently groomed when the snow was still a bit soft. It was verging on icy, even well past noon time, but considering the dreadful weather we had earlier in the week, I was totally thrilled with the effort and skill which had been applied to the grooming. By 3:00 things were starting to soften a bit, and some skate ruts were appearing. Another pass of the machinery, tonight, will have it in fine form for tomorrow's crowds. It should be a great day!
If you are going classic, be sure to put on the most bomb-proof binder you have. None of the icy snows earlier in the year can compare to what we have now in terms of being able to strip off grip wax.
