Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: North Loop, Glide Wax: Blue, Grip Wax: special blue klister binder, umpteen coats of "wax of the day".

Just one quick pass of the Doldrums - a great gift for a Wednesday when I don't usually get to ski at all. A beautiful day, sunny and cold. I waited until late morning hoping the tracks would soften a bit, but they were about as hard and abrasive as I've ever seen them. It was yesterday's grooming and everything sure LOOKED beautiful. To say the tracks were "hard" would be an understatement. I spent more time waxing this morning than skiing but it was time well spent! The klister binder wax worked well, and I couldn't imagine how exhausting it would have been to ski without a bomb-proof binder. I'm hoping tomorrow will bring some fresh grooming to soften up the concrete somewhat. One caution: the parking lots have a bit of grit down in places, but it would be very simple to slip and break a wrist or arm etc. while walking in ski boots. Be very careful.
