Gatineau Park

Trails Skied: North Loop, Glide Wax: Swix blue, Grip Wax:

Surprisingly nice skating conditions on the Doldrums despite the -19C temperature. The surface had been freshly groomed to a hard texture, which provided reasonable glide, particularly in the sunshine. It wasn't fast, but there was enough glide for skating to be enjoyable (if you ignore the squeaking skis!). If anything conditions should improve later this afternoon with slightly rising temperatures and more time for the sun to work on the snow. It's well worth getting the skate skis out. For those skiing classic (probably still the sensible choice in this cold) tracks were deep and firm.
